What the judges were saying: "Khioora's piece definitely jumped out at me when I was first browsing through the entries- it's a striking illustration, granted, but I was also taken with the integration of both 1830's fashion, and Romantic period portrayals of mermaids with more delineated legs. I'm not a huge fan of fashion in the 1830's, but I'll be the first to admit that it's a blast to draw; I think Khioora did a great job of capturing the so-called "Waist and Extravagance" of the period with both her characters' overall silhouette, and her general detailing of the costume. What the Judge's Were Saying A very clever choice of drawing a rat who wants to to be cook just like a human, and a former human who's now cooking as a frog! Haha. Very, very clever choice of characters with a humorous picture!

What the Judge's Were Saying: The idea that Merlin is giving the Fairy Godmother magic counseling over tea is hilarious. Not to mention, what Merlin says is quite clever because you never think about the midnight thing being an issue in the movie.

Third day in a row I've made a blog on this group! Hehe. I hope you don't find it annoying!
Lately at tumblr I've been bombarded by BRAVE concept art! So, I thought I'd share some with you guys as a featured movie!:

The movie came out in 1994 and became the little movie that could! It was the highest grossing film of that year.

Since then there's been many re-releases of the movie, sequels, and even a Broadway musical based on it.
What's the movie about? Well, you're a Disney fan! Shouldn't you have seen it by now?

Featured Artist - Freddie MooreFreddie Moore and Ollie Johnston, two stars of the Disney golden age
Today is Fred Moore's birthday! (Very close to Frank Thomas'!)
He would have been 101 years old today.
Fred Moore was only 19 when he joined up with Disney. The story goes that one of Fred Moore's friends couldn't make it in an interview with Walt for a job, so Fred seized the opportunity and went in his place (without any formal art training!). Lo and behold, then next he knew he was working in the animation department.
Some of Fred's best work was on Disney's well-known mascot, Mickey Mouse himself. He became in the in-house expert on Mickey and even transformed him from the old "pie-eyed, robber hose" look to the "pear shaped" look he is today.
Fred Moore had and still has a profound influence on animators then and now. His drawings were full of charm, expression and emotion. Some of the most popular character he animated in the movies were the Dwarfs in Snow White, Timothy Mouse in Dumbo, Lampwick in Pinocchio, an

Featured Artist - Tim Burton!He's most known at Disney for his work on The Nightmare Before Christmas and the recent Alice in Wonderland movie. But he also did concept work for The Black Cauldron! :3

We loved the representation for this on-going in and out of production movie,
Don Quixote. The characters are obviously very different from each other and
compliment each other very well! The sun and windmill silhouette pay great homage to the original story.

Featured Artist - Frank ThomasToday is Frank Thomas' birthday! He would have been 100 years old.

He was known as one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" - one of the core animators at Disney back in the golden age.
Frank's the one on the right the two on left are fellow animators Ollie Johnston and Milt Kahl. The boy in the middle is Peter Behn, voice of young Thumper in Bambi.

Featured Episode - Find Her, Keep HerAnd now for our first ever group featured episode!
Back when we asked about your favorite episodes of any TV show, a few people mentioned "Find Her, Keep Her" from The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
And, I couldn't resist but make this our first featured episode. My mom video taped a while bunch of episodes of this show for us as kids, and this one definitely left its mark. It made me cry so hard. ;_^ I guess it left its mark on you guys, too!

Featured Movie - Wreck-it Ralph (spoiler free)

Disney's newest little masterpiece of the silver screen (and top at the box office!) movie is Wreck-it Ralph!

If you haven't seen it, please do. It's very unique for Disney to do a movie about a big blocky guy!

Story: A video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives.
It may seem simple enough, but it's an awesome flick.

Watching this movie kind of made all my feelings wrap themselves up in a neat little box. And then that box got run over by a train. And got put perfectly back together again by God himself.

Hey wait a second, do you think the concept artists were inspired by "Cookie Carnival" when designing Sugar Rush? That would be pretty neat trivia, especially since "Cookie Carnival" is one of my favorite Disney cartoons.
